We’re featuring all sorts of POP-related things to go along with a new product announcement. Mondays, we are featuring ‘Today in POP music.’
Today in POP-ular music history, we’re hitting up the area that Huey Lewis and the News would call the heart of Rock n’ Roll (and popular music) by checking out the Rock n’ Roll hall of fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
There have been quite a few bumps today in popular music history, thanks to the Rock hall, and here’s just a sampling of things that happened there on this date:
1987, Bruce Springsteen inducted Roy Orbison into the Rock Hall of Fame.

1987, The Coasters are the first vocal group to be inducted into the Rock Hall.

In 1987, Aretha Franklin was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Keith Richards.
And speaking of music, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is offering free admission today, in observance of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. day. Read more about that here.
