Apple Hires Burberry CEO- Angela Ahrendts

So, what do fashion and technology have in common? Nothing really, until Apple decided to mix things up just a bit this week by hiring UK’s top paid CEO, Angela Ahrendts, the CEO of Burberry. Yes, you heard me correctly, Burberry, as in luxuriously posh scarves, coats, and purses…ya, that Burberry.

In a surprising move, Ahrendts will be leaving Burberry in the spring to become Apple’s new Senior Vice President of Retail…CEO to Senior VP…interesting. I’m sure a few extra dollar signs came into play in this move. Although, a current salary of 26.3 mill with Burberry isn’t too bad. I wonder what Apple offered.

With a plateauing effect in the future for the consumer tech industry, Apple is doing everything they can to keep things moving upwards. Ahrendts will be responsible for revamping all the Apple stores and creating a new and unique buying experience for the customer, much like what she did for Burberry.

It will be interesting to see what direction she goes in and if she can keep Apple from just adding to the already saturated noise of the tech world. Maybe we can expect plaid iPhones in the future?

There’s no doubt this woman is smart and talented, just watch one of her Burberry campaign videos below, so maybe she will be able to bring a fresh new approach to Apple’s identity. Only time will tell.

What are your thoughts?
